Morning Worship June 7, 2020

Praise the Lord, all nations!
    Extol him, all peoples!
² For great is his steadfast love toward us,
    and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

• Confession of Sin

Righteous God, we have sinned and fallen short of your glory.  We are deserving of your wrath and righteous anger against us.  But you love mercy, and therefore we are bold enough to come to you, just as we are.  We have no excuses and no plea but that Jesus’ blood was shed for us.  We confess before you, and before our brothers and sisters in Christ, that we have not loved you with all our heart and strength.  We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves.  For Jesus’ sake grant us forgiveness, grace to change our ways, and the guiding presence of your Holy Spirit.  Amen.

• Promise of Forgiveness: Romans 5:6-11

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—  but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.  More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

• Old Testament Reading: Exodus 33:7-11

Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp. ⁸ Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would rise up, and each would stand at his tent door, and watch Moses until he had gone into the tent. ⁹ When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord would speak with Moses. ¹⁰ And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, each at his tent door. ¹¹ Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command you.  No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.  You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.  These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

Note that the online portal allows for a credit card or bank draft. The church incurs lower fees with the bank drafts. Gifts can be made to the general fund, deacons fund or building fund.
